MALLORCA TODAY - Pollensa mayor withdraws secretarial appointment

In the face of cross-party opposition, Pollensa's mayor Tomeu Cifre has announced on Radio Pollença today that he has withdrawn the appointment of Nora Tugores as his personal secretary. The mayor has not conceded he made a mistake in the appointment, maintaining that the job was necessary and that Nora has been a "victim" (presumably of the outcry that the appointment caused).
