MALLORCA TODAY - Santa Margalida faces instability

With six councillors, three short of a majority, and the support of no other party, the Suma pel Canvi (PSOE and independents) in Santa Margalida has assumed control of the town hall and Miguel Cifre has become mayor, 14 years after having been removed through a motion of censure. The Partido Popular's ex-mayor, Martí Torres, criticised the selection of Cifre, pointing to the greater support that the PP (and its usual partner, the Can Picafort Unit) got at the election and suggesting that Cifre was not a legitimate mayor.
